         Welcome to Dragnet, the drag racers mailing list. 

The Dragnet mailing list is a continuation of the former official DragNet
email list maintained by Kelly Murray at htrd.com, who could no longer
afford to spend the time required to maintain such a list.  Many thanks go
out to Kelly for putting six years of time and effort into the list, and to
Greg Hackney, the original founder (In 1991!).

The purpose of the Dragnet mailing-list is to bring together participants 
in the sport of drag racing. 

The list is intended for both drag racing participants and drag dracing 
enthusiasts. 


        SUBSCRIBING TO THE LIST 


Joining Dragnet is easy.  To subscribe to the list, just send email to:

with a Body (not subject line) of:
subscribe dragnet

INTRODUCTIONS

Once you have received confirmation of your subscription approval, we 
recommend sending an introduction email to the list.  You don't have
to do this, but it's a nice way to introduce yourself to the group.  An
example of some things you could include are:

- What state or country you live in.
- What track you race or spectate at.
- What type of car you race and what class you are in.
- Projects you are working on
- Performance-related items you would like to learn about.


DIGESTS

The Dragnet list is available in a digested format.  A digest means that,
instead of receiving individual emails throughout the day from Dragnet, you
will receive one email, containing all the messages from that day.
If you prefer to receive a digest of the messages, send an email to:

ARTICLE CONTENT

This list was created to share knowledge about legal drag racing.  It is not
about illegal street racing.  The list is intended for drag racing
enthusiasts, those who actually race and those who wish they did.

It is fine to advertise items you have for sale, as long as it's occasional,
and related to drag racing.  If you would like to have your items put
online in the classifieds section of the Dragnet website, just let us know.

Do not post anything that has been copyrighted, or is illegal.

Please do not include attachments, such as pictures or sound files, with
your email.  It is better to send a url (web page address) that readers can
go to in their spare time, rather than having your particular email take
a long time to download.  If you don't have your own website, we will be 
happy to host your pictures and stories for you.

Please do not post articles about virus warnings, unless you are certain that 
it is a valid warning.  Most of the time, items like this are hoaxes anyway, 
and aren't related to drag racing.


HELPING OTHERS

The knowledge base of this list is broad.  Some members are new to the racing
world, and some are seasoned professionals.  When answering questions and
getting or giving advice, please keep this in mind.
